Moulin Rouge in Paris

Can someone tell me about your experience attending a performance at the Moulin Rouge? Which performance would you recommend? If you had dinner there, did you enjoy it? Thanks for the assist. Ali

Alice, About 10 years ago, we saw a show with g-string clad women swimming with dolphins in a glass tank that rose out of the floor.

It was quite a show. Worth it? No, I don't think so unless that's your thing. It was expensive and the food was OK. The venue changes, but the theme may not.

I can't imagine going there again, really. Hey, some people like it, but there's much better things to do.

We attended a 9:00 or 10:00 pm show without dinner...1 bottle of champagne per couple in July 1998 for about $100
per person. We loved the show! We thought it elegant, tasteful, and thoroughy entertaining. Worth it for the cabaret experience.

I have to agree with Pam my husband and i had dinner and the show there in november. we had the belle epoque dinner and i think it was around 110.00 usd a person. The food was very good and the meal cme with a bottel of champagne, bottled water and maybe wine . I can't remember as i drank all the champagne. The plus to having dinner is that you get a better seat for the show. we were at the first table second seat. so we were practically on teh stage. The quality of the show was exccellent they have changed it recently so they dolphin is gonme the girl dances in the tank of snakes. there is also dancing to aagreat little jazzy bannd during dinner. drinks were outrageous i think we apid about 19.00 dollars for a johnny walker black and water. i thought he would explode but no he was so entranced by the show and not just the naked women. The show includes magician, acrobats, dancing, comedy it really is something to remember. Shopisticated NO, Touristy Yes. Would i recommend it yes. You can et the show and dinnerr for as little as 80.00 a person i think, if you have the time i recommend it. Also as far as a dinner experience i wouldd also recommend the Bateaux Moches ( as you all have noticed i cannot spell english words let alone french, please accept my apologies ) The prrestiege dinnerr cruise is 800ffr a person and agin it is a great night. cruise down the seine, great food, live music, great wine and champagne, cognac and handmade truffles along with a great baked alaska and the best service i experienced in france. so many young sailor boys dressed in striped shirts and sailor hats and the most incredible views of the city at night. the boat is glass and just a wonderful touristy night.
It's the bateaux-mouches. I don't correct miisspellings usually, but this one was too fun...

Bateaux moches means "ugly boats", in french...(and bateaux-mouches : flyboats, since they're tiny)

No offense intended...

My wife and I attended the Moulin Rouge seven years ago. It was expensive and food and show were so-so. However, we sat next to a delightful couple from Scotland--which made the evening a lot of fun. For the money, however, I have to agree that the Seine dinner cruise is a much, much better experience.

Helloo

I'm thinking of doing the Moulin Rouge and Seine cruise dinner too, but have no idea at all on how to make my bookings....will the hotel be able to help me on this? Any advice is appreciated :)

Clairobscur: Je suis avec toi! "bateaux-moches" .. c'est une bonne. LOL

If you are in Paris with children, they might enjoy the Wild West Show at Disney. If there is anything funnier than French people wearing cowboy hats and yelling "yee haw" for their team, you tell me.
Thank you so much for the input. I really appreciate the info on the Seine River cruise. That REALLY sounds delightful and, from all I've read, there's nothing like the lights of Paris in the evening! When you mentioned different libations, was that inclusive of the price of the cruise? Merci, Alice
