moulin rouge - dining before the show
My friends and I are interested in a campy, fun show like Moulin Rouge. I've been in the past (maybe 10 years ago) and remember the food was terrible. Anyone with recent experience? Is dinner worth it? Will we be better of dining locally before the show? If so, any restaurant recommendations?

Yes, Le Restaurant is about a block or so up Rue Lepic, on 32 rue Véron.
We stayed in an apartment in Feb of last year in Montmartre and the restaurant was recommended by the landlord. We had a great valentine's dinner there. The rabbit was superb, but if you don't care for rabbit, they had a wide variety of other stuff. The creme brulee was out of this world. ((b)) |
Hi all. new to the board. just searched on Moulin Rouge and it appears you all agree to eat elsewhere!
Thanks for the scoop. We'll try Le Restaurant on rue Lepic. |
If you do decide to go to Le Restaurant, you might want to make a reservation the day before.
Definitely don't eat at the Moulin Rouge, and don't wear anything that looks close to a tennis shoe -- they won't let you in. Business casual will be fine. ((b)) |
Considering that the food is ultra expensive and nothing special at the Moulin Rouge, it does afford you a better seat (main floor) than if you go for the drinks only.

Want to take my 14 yr old with me to the Moulin Rouge- don't know when he'll ever see anything like that around home. Is that acceptable? Will they let in a 14 yr old? I have been assuming "yes" but think I should know for sure...

Check its website at www.moulinrouge.fr
All I notice is children under 6 aren't allowed. So your son should be accepted. Also there was a No Smoking policy in the entire Moulin Rouge venue since March 31st this year. That's good. |
Well, your 14 year old will certainly get a rush in his hormones watching all those topless babes prance around. ((b))

I must agree that this is a very odd thing for a parent to take a child to.
I'm not a prude and find toplessness on the beach to be apprpriate and natrual - but this show is IMHO way over the top for a 14 year old - talk about objectifying women! |
Ristorante La Scuderia Del Mulino Just two doors up from the Moulin Rouge great Italian food and one of the best brick oven pizzas i have ever had and good prices. Most of the staff from the Moulin Rouge was in there when I was there. I also got great pictures at nigth of the outside of the Moulin Rouge If you take the #2 Metro to the Blanche station go up the steps and it is right in front of you .106 Bd de clichy 75018 Paris

I wouldn't take my son there either but that's me. If amwosu chooses to do that it's his/her personal decision. The show has the topless women for sure but surprisingly the show is very good.
Just to note I did notice all the men-both young, old, and very old-looking gaga during the show. |
I've never been accused of being a "normal" mother... to each their own!
