Wanting to go to the Moulin Rouge. Thinking of having meal then show. Is it good.

Get a meal elsewhere before the show.

I think it is good for that kind of show. If you want to go to it, you obviously like those kind of things to begin with, so I imagine the show itself will meet your expectations. I haven't been, but have read they have beautiful costumes and a good production. If you are the kind of person who likes Las Vegas-type shows, anything like that, you probably will like it.

I don't know about the meal, suspect it is adequate but not worth the cost if it is over 30 euro.

Surich, do you know the price? I think it is in the € 170 range for the dinner show.

I've been and it is kinda the basis for a lot of the so-called "Vegas style" production shows.

The production values were pretty good when I saw it.

I would not do the meal, just the show.

Be aware, very aware of the theatre's "dress code" which was, when I saw it, strictly enforced at the door.

And don't be the least bit put off any of the implications which come with the "that kind of show" response.

We did the show without the meal. I can't say it was great but was not too bad either. I wouldn't go again but I am glad I went once. I have heard the dinner is not good and not worth the price.

The food is expensive and poor. Eat elsewhere.

The show is what it is (like an old-fashioned Vegas show). I can;t imagine why anyone goes - you couldn;t pay me enough - but we all have different tastes.

I would never waste that much money on a show like Moulin Rouge. I sometimes wonder if the price they charge is so high is because they can!
Ps I have heard it is very cramped aswell? Someone may like to confirm!

There are web sites that issue discount tickets for the show only (do a google search). Is it worth it? Everybody has it right, it's a tourist show, of course, not for locals b ut it's an evening's entertainment so you will have to make your own decision.

I used 365tickets.com t book discount tickts for a similar show called paradis latin. The show was alright. Of course it's done for tourists. They weren't sticky at all about dress. I wore a knit shirt, black pans and a pair of shoes. No problems. (Lots of groups there also).

Another possibility is one of the tour companies (Paris Vision and cityrama) which have "tours" that might include dinner (it was near Sacre Coeur), an illuninations drive (although that's tough in Paris during the summer as it doesn't get dark till 2200) and then they drop you at Moulin Rouge for the late show (one glass of cheap champagne included) and then drop you back at your hotel. You can look up the prices on their web sites. Again is it worth it? I'm not in a position to judge whether you would consider it worth it. It was a pleasant enough evening. The advantage of the "tour" is that once you get to the office of the tour company, they take you everywhere else. They also have other evening tours that might include dinner at the Eifel Tower, the Seine boat ride (again bearing in mind it doesn't get dark in Paris till 2200 in the summer) and the same drop off at Moulin Rouge for the late show and transport bck to your hotel.

Can you do it cheaper byyourself? Probably but it's easier to lay down the one price and be done with it.

I wasn't sorry I went but I'm aware it's not really Paris (it's more Vegas)......saw similar show years ago at the Tropicana in Vegas

I went for both dinner and show and thought it was a total waste of money. Poor food and not a very good production. IMHO. I've seen better on cruise ships.

Agree with Susie,, if you have seen a Las Vegas show you will find this a step down. And the food is simply your poor cousins wedding in the gym banquet food, and that is being generous.
If you want to go, go for the show, but skip the dinner at least,, its a lot of money to throw away,, have a better dinner for less somewhere else!
