Moules on the Beach& Great restaurants in South of France?

Hello,
My hubby and I are planning a trip and want to know great recommendations for sweet mussels with a view, great restaurants, and things not to miss in South of France.
How far is Provence? What towns, things, should we not miss?
I love great food, views, outdoors, experiences not to be had in other places, a romatantic experience? Not so into museums, and indoor activities.
What great recommendations do you have for us?

How far is Provence from what?

Where are you headed? The South of France is huge.

In Bouzique there is a place right on the water - a little shack, actually, that serves the most astonishingly fabulous moules frites for 10 euros. Blue awning - can't miss it...

Good question~! I'm flying into Nice, figure I will spend time in Cannes, Monte Carlo, maybe Eze? and am looking for suggestions on where to go. I'll plan the trip around what sounds good.
The spot in Bouzique sounds great.

The best thing to do now is get the Michelin Green Guide to the Côte d'Azur and figure out what you'd like to see. If your question means how far is the Côte d'Azur from Provence, it's quite close--in fact, it's part of Provence, the eastern part.

It would help to know how much time you will have and whether you like small villages or large towns, beaches or mountains, etc.

We will have about 10 days....and I like quaint villages, beaches, mountains--I'd like some variety.
I recently saw a picture of a crew making crepes right on the waterfront--unfortunately they didn't say what town it was taken in--but that looked great.
I like outdoor cafes, or unusual spots with a view. I love the beauty of the old buildings, cobblestone, etc.
I don't want a big city.
Thanks for your help!!

JES

just to say that The Languedoc coast is in the West Med, near Spain. Bouzigues is a 4+hr drive from Nice.

If you do visit Languedoc, Sete is another favoured seafood town.

I've got photos of the area here: http://www.the-languedoc-page.com/ph...hoto-index.htm

Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos!
A 4 hour drive is a little longer than I'd like unless we were enroute that way for other outstanding places. The area does look great from the photos, but keeping in mind that we have never been anywhere in the South of France, should we concentrate our time in the areas closer to where we are staying (Vallauris--which is in between Nice & Cannes) or is it much nicer and worth the trek out to Languedoc?
