Motorcycle Tour?
I am curious to know if anyone has toured over in Europe via motorcycle? I have been looking at different ways to sight see. Bus, train, rental car etc. Group or Single? So many choices such little time, lol. Either way I am hoping to go at the end of summer/early fall but I have flexiblity so it doesnt necessarily have to be at this time frame. I did come across a sight on renting a motorcycle and touring that way. It sounded somewhat appealing to me. If theres anyone who has toured this way I would love to read your view on this. Thanks

The best know motorcycle tour operator is Edelweiss Tours. I plan on taking one myself someday; I'd love to go all through the Alps on a BMW RT or somesuch. Anyway, I've read many reviews of these tours in Cycle World and Motorcyclist magazine and people rave about Edelweiss. |
This too is definitely a dream of mine.
Have you ever been to Europe before? Do you have any language skills beyond English? If not, the tour would seem to be your best way to go. If yes, you might consider going "solo", without a tour group. That is what I plan to do. Check-out some MC rentals agencies in Frankfurt and Munich if you want to go alone. MvK |
Thank you for your replies. I will definately have to plan it well. I do know some Spanish and am currently trying to learn a few other languages, hopefully by the time I leave I will know enough to get by. I will also check out your recommendations. Traveling by mc appeals to me the most. Anyway thanks again.

A tour is probably a good way to go. You might want to buy the book "Motorcycle Journeys thru the Alps and Corsica" I believe John Hermann wrote it (try Amazon).
I have a coworker who rented motorcycles for Northern Italy (I used to have the tour operators website. I will look.) They found a company that packaged motorcycles with a chain of B&B type accomodations. So there was no luggage van. No tour guide on a motorcycle leading the way, etc. |
We have friends who went with Beach's; they rode BMW's through the Dolomites:

Here would be one possibility.
