Mother's day lunch in Barcelona
 

We'll be in Barcelona on Mother's Day, with both our mothers. Can you suggest a nice place for lunch? I know "nice" is subjective...good food, not seafood only as 2 of us don't eat fish, preferably outdoors seating (I hope it will be warm enough in May), not tapas, not Michelin prices.

If you have any recommendations for dinners, then please, share. I'm overwhelmed with choices. Not a bad thing, I admit. Thank you.

How about the El Gran Cafe in the Gothic Quarter? There's no outside seating but I'd always recommend it for the .service, food and atmosphere.

The Gran Café is permanently closed.

I think of outdoor seating as to be found in the former fishermen's quarter of Barcelona or on the Bogatell beach, but the restaurants there are very seafood-centric.

The problem for us on Sundays is that nice restaurants for a "special" meal (non tapas and non pure tourist orientated) are few and far between.
Our ace-in-the-hole Alta Taberna Paclo Meralgo in the Eixample is fun, lively but features small plates dining at stools around the bar or at high tables, which can be uncomfortable. Other Example favorites are closed on Sundays except....

How about Alba Granados on pretty tree-lined Enric Granados in the Eixample and out of the tourist center? Nice seating in an upscale neighborhood, classic catalán cuisine, moderate prices for this expensive dining city. It´s bookable online and on The Fork.

Santa Gula is open Sundays.

They have never failed me. Not super fancy, but the food is soooo good.

I have always dined inside but they have outside tables too. Great wine list, super nice staff.
