Most Romantic Spot in Prague
 

What is the most romantic place in Prague? We will be celebrating our anniversary with a trip to Prague and Venice next month. I know the Gondola ride will be just the thing for Venice, but what would you recommend for Prague?

A kiss on the Charles Bridge at sunset. Do it again at dawn.

Rent a row boat and glide down the Vlatava with the swans.

The views from Letna Park are spectacular. Letna Park is across the Vltava from the Jewish Quarter. There is a small restaurant that is easily spotted at night. From the plateau overlooking the city you can see all the bridges spanning the Vltava - the view is a must do. There is a restaurant located in the park - Hanavsky Pavilion - ?a impressive structure in luxuriant Dutch pseudo-Baroque style , all made of cast iron complemented with masonry? . I had lunch there and it was nothing special - dinner might be better. I would recommend getting a table outside - during the day or just before sunset - order a bottle of moravian white, sit for a few hours and take in the view.

To name only one romantic place is difficult for a city like Prague, but I suggest the following.
Make a walk from Lesser Town (Mala Strana) over the Charles Bridge direction the Old Town Square in the Old Town. Once arrived in the Old Town Square you can take horse-drawn carriage to Intercontinental hotel, where you can have a dinner in (top roof) restaurant Zlata Praha, where is wonderful view on Prague Castle and excellent food. And if you will have sunshine that day you will never forget this experience.
I did that with my family last year and it was fabulous.
Do not forget to make a reservation for the restaurant.

walking on Charles Bridge early morning when there are less people to share the view with.

It is hard to argue with the Karlov Most (Charles Bridge). However, another (undertouristed) spot is Vystaviste, northeast of Letna Park, and due north of Holesovice. It is essentially a fairgrounds, containing a panorama and a lapidarium. The lapidarium contains a bunch of old statutes, including the originals from the Charles Bridge. (The originals were removed from the bridge and replaced by copies, to protect them from exposure to pollution, weather, or possible vandalism)

The most romantic spot there, though, is a fountain. The hundreds of water jets are computer-controlled, and they are all synchronized with music. It achieves a "dancing waters" effect which is very nice. Though I saw the fountain during the day, I have read that displays also take place at night, with the addition of colored lights. The effect will be even more impressive after a couple of fine Czech beers.

I'm curious how you will be travelling between Prague and Venice. We are planning a similar trip. Thanks.

I sorta favor the surroundings and the view from the castle on the hill. But I also would be quite content just to lollygag around the old fountain in the old town square. Have fun.

PatKohn, In reply to your question, we are flying Czech Airlines from Prague to Venice. We booked the entire flight itinerary with Delta Skymiles. It's Czech Airlines from NY-JFK to Prague, and then Prague to Venice. Homebound, it's Air France from Venice to Paris for a brief stop, then Paris to JFK.
