My guess it will be wherever you propose to your girlfriend! Any place is incredibly romantic, given the right circumstances. (ok, most any place). See if you can find out what place holds the most allure for her?

Venice,
no question; it will live in both your memories forever
another vote for Venice...

Lake Como, more of a place than a city, but Bellagio or Varenna would do just fine. If you like a more more natural setting, it's THE place in Italy, IMO.

Venice in April (definately not in July)

Venice was magical for my wife and me. We loved it.

Hi,

My son has informed me that he is proposing next spring when he and his girl friend go to Provence. Sounds good to me.

The Charles Bridge at night in Prague.

Venice or Paris gets my vote. Venice at Sunset, or Paris at night. Wow!

Venice, baby!

Verona by day, anywhere near the river, Campo Di Fiori (Rome)by dusk. If winter, the main square at Bolzano.

I have to chuckle at the suggestion of Venice in April. While I know the canals can be smelly and the city crowded in July, we were in Venic last April at Easter time and it was wall to wall people, literally!

You had to take baby steps anywhere on the streets adjacent to the Piazza San Marco and over the Rialto Bridge because of the crowds. My husband and I just kept asking how anyone could see this as a romantic city.

My vote: Paris. As to locale: on one of the bridges crossing the Seine, at night. Best wishes.

Even the Parisians will admit that Venice is the most romantic city.
