Most photogenic?
Which European/Middle East/African cities/towns/villages are the most photogenic?
In my humble opinion, Rome definitely is definitely one of the top cities. May I have your valuable input? |
Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovine has to be the most photogenic city I've ever been to.
|
Venice, Hallstatt, Dubrovnik -- off the top of my head. Taormina is pretty good. Others will probably come to me.
|
I thought Edinburgh offered a lot of opportunities.
|
Lake Como, Cinque Terre, Prague, Capri
|
Practically any African village, town or city offers great photo ops. The people, the markets, the shops. Same with the Middle East I imagine.
I liked Conques in France. But I went out of season. Most French towns offer markets, café filled squares and the like to photograph. |
hobbit, are you talking about architecture or natural beauty?
|
It is an unaswerable question. There are all sorts of criteria and audiences for photos.
|
It depends on what you want for photogenic.
Every place has reasons to be photogenic (architecture, history, people, animals, landscapes, etc), it simply depends on what you're interested in. I love pictures of architecture/landmarks and landscapes. Snapshots of people can also be some of my favorites. |
It is not only what you see but how you photograph it.
|
Some favourites in Germany where my camera went berserk: Marburg, Ladenburg, Bautzen, Görlitz, Wismar, Regensburg.
|
Santorini!
Positano Dubrovnik Taormina |
Paris
Turkish Riviera Ireland |
Honfleur
Paris Venice Amsterdam Positano |
All the places that people say are "too touristy" - they are touristy for a reason.
But if I had to pick I like bob's list. Have a look at my photos, most of the places I took them in were "photogenic" - www.pbase.com/annforcier |

Through your eyes, Ann, they all seem Photogenic.
|
Ann, they are absolutely stunning pictures! Thank you so much for sharing.
|
I think Athens is the most photogenic largely because the monuments have space as well as beauty.

Venice, Venice, Venice
|
Of course--how could I forget Venice
|
Valletta, Malta--indeed, all of Malta. The colors just glowed and gleamed, and that golden stone, blue sky, and water...
But of course it's all pretty much subjective, eh? |
Oh, Malta pix linky...even though it's embarrassing after all the great ones here...

It is about 15 miles west of Bourton-on-the-water, which is also cool when the tourist buses aren't there. |
Thank you all for your response!! I cannot wait to see those places!
I don't see Istanbul, Turkey. Fodorites raved about this city. I went out and bought the GuideBook and am planning my trip to that country. Now I am wondering if I am setting myself up for disappointment? :( |
Istanbul is glorious and quite photogenic. It's impossible to name all the best site for photos, as so much depends on time of day/season/personal preferences and so forth.
Just the Hagia Sofia alone can wear out your camera batteries. |
