Most favorite day trips into Italy from Nice..

Hello,

My husband and I be going to Nice this May from the 21-25th, and we are hoping to take a day trip into Italy? I would love to hear about any locations in Italy that are really beautiful, and have some shopping, (that we could visit as a day excursion from Nice?)

Thanks!

Go to Menton on the border and stop there. The Italy side is tacky and not worth your time--and I love Italy.

On Friday mornings there is a market in Ventimiglia,Italy right across the border from France. Or you can continue (likely with a train change) from Ventimiglia into San Remo.

Go the opposite direction.

I personally thought the market in Ventimiglia was one of the most squalid I've ever encountered in Europe.

And I'm a major italophile, too.

I have to agree with the other posters. I can't think of any Italian cities that would be a reasonable day trip from Nice, and I absolutely love Italy, too!

However, there are plenty of beautiful small villages and cities near Nice ( Eze, Monaco, St. Jean Cap, Cannes, St. Paul de VEnce) which would make excellent day trips.

difficult to find something on your own in italy, take a organised bus tour from nice, much better to see in a short time, remember you will only see the old border towns , and the shops close from midday until 1600 pm.but , you will definately see many italian small cars, pa\rked in almost impossible places !!!!!!!!!!no comparison to nice, although nice was originally italian, but a very different day out.
