Mosquitos in Spain
 

We'll be in Spain during the beginning of November, in Madrid, Andalusia, and the Costa del Sol. I'm extremely sensitive to mosquito bites (not allergic, but they are painful) and want to avoid adding that irritant to my vacation. I don't expect to have problems in Madrid at that time of year, but what about Seville, Touremelinos (sp?), where it should be warmer. Do I need to take a mosquito repellant with me or will it be cool enough that the mosquitos will have gone into hibernation for the winter?

Linda, we have been in Nerja (on the coast east of Torremolinos) in the springtime and also in November and have commented on the lack of insects. I don't think you have to worry about mosquitos. <BR>Have a great trip.

Mosquitoes will not be a problem in November. Although Andalucia still keeps warm, they only sometimes are somehow annoying in summer. <BR>( Torremolinos, :) ,it is not easy ). I still remember how I was literally eaten by mosquitoes at dusk in one of the most beautiful and amazing places in Spain: The Monasterio de Piedra ( Zaragoza province )

I would make an investment in some sort of bug repellent. I spent fall semester in Sevilla and was eaten alive until I bought skin-so-soft to slather on my face everynight (whatever else I bought didn't do the trick). I would still get bit on my hands, though, if I forgot to coat them too. This feasting occured up until I left in December. I can still hear mosquitoes buzzing around my head *shudder*

It might happen... it is, of course, not usual by that time( September and even mid-October but until December... ), so I do not remember it. Better to be warned and anti-bug armed in case it might happen again.
