H<BR>I can't swear as to their taxonomy, but they flew, and they bit

I have been in Venice on two separate occasions in August and have never had any problems with mosquitoes, my husband is the same.

I would also have to advise against Skin-So-Soft. I tried it during a trip to New Hampshire last year, and I had more bites than anyone else in our group (nobody else used any repellent). In fact, when we sat down to dinner (outside), all mosquitos (as well as black flies and some other critters) seemed to be attracted to Skin-so-soft rather than repelled by it--there was a cloud of them around me at all times.

I was in Venice in August and got bitten a lot! The hotel had no air conditioning so I had to keep the windows open, as it got very hot otherwise. It became a question of which is worse -- heat or mosquitos. I finally resorted to one of those coils that you light and that did keep the mosquitos away.
