mosquitoes in northern italy in July?

i have heard that mosquitoes can be a problem, especially at Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore. Since i'm a mosquito magnet, just checking to see if anyone has had this experience end of June/early July. I don't mean just a few bugs....but major problems that require closing windows or not going out at night. thanks for letting me know.

Interesting info from these older posts about mosquitoes being worse in S Maggiore. I'm also a mosquito magnet so I understand Alison's concerns. I don't think she ever got her black fly question answered.
Being eaten alive would ruin a vacation for me.
She's also got a theme going inquiring about malaria in China. Bravo Alison!
