mosel valley

I am going to Germany this weekend for a week. Am planning on spending 2-3 days visiting the Mosel Valley, before heading back to Frankfurt for a friend's wedding. Can anyone tell me how we get to the Mosel Valley (we are driving) from Frankfurt, and any suggestions on what towns to definately see, places to stay, etc.

It's roughly northwest of Frankfurt. You'll need a map. Burg Eltz (near the Mosel between Cochem and Koblenz), Cochem, Bernkastel, and Trier (a city, really, with Roman history) are maybe my favorites, but all the Mosel towns are delightful, really.

It is an easy 1 1/2 - 2 hour hour drive from Frankfurt Airport, depending on where you stay. I have exact viamichelin directions and directions from my hotel (I just did this drive three weeks ago today) at home and will send it to you tonight.

Burg Eltz castle was great. The whole area is beautiful. Can't help with driving as I was a backseat passenger visting with my friend who lived in Germany and left the driving to her husband.

The driving should be easy...I did it a few times this summer. Get a Michelin Map at your bookstore, and the viaMichelin website directions that a previous writer will send you will work well.
I think Oct is wine harvest fest time along the Mosel. Better check ahead of time for places to stay.
