Morot-Gaudry vs Ciel de Paris Montparnasse

I am looking for a romantic restaraunt with a view of the Eiffel Tower and found Morot-Gaudry and Ciel de Paris Montparnasse. Ciel de Paris Montparnasse has an informative web site but I have been unable to find information (other than address and phone number) on Morot-Gaudry. Can anyone give me an idea of their cusine, prices and atmosphere? Has anyone been to both and can give me a comparison? Finally, is there another restaraunt that one can recommend with a view of the Eiffel tower?

Does any of this help?

(apparently there's been a name change at Morot Gaudry to "le R")

I worry about any restaurant described as “trendy.”

I don't know what the food is like at the top of the Montparnasse Tower—probably so-so, if it follows the pattern of most restaurants with a view. The view from the top of the tower is excellent, though. Do make sure you're on the side that faces the Eiffel Tower, though!

Travelnut - Thanks for the links ... although I can't read French I was still able to get information I didn't already have on Morot-Gaudry/Le R.

AnthonyGA - I will keep your suggestions in mind while making my dinner reservations. Thanks for your input.

Well I read their menu this afternoon... I would give it a try with a positive nature at heart...

(I wouldn't go in there deciding before hand it wasn't good... you know what I mean?)

SuzieC - I emailed the restaurant trying to make a reservation for my husband and I and got the following response. "Sorry but it’s not possible any more.
We accept only groups now since January. We don’t accept particular..."

So, my search for a restaurant with a view of the Eiffel Tower continues. Any suggestions?

Can't you see the tower from Georges, atop the Pompidou Centre? or maybe Kong?

I dined only once at Morot Gaudry, a perfectly lovely experience.

If you can overlook the fact that you are dining atop a parking garage, it can be enchanting.

But again, if it has had a name change, it has (presumably) also had a change of owner and also (likely) of chef. So my remarks are of merely historical interest.

Maison Blanche has a wonderfu view.

Travelnut - Thanks so much for being so helpful. I checked some sources on Georges and surprisingly got plenty of negative reviews in regards to the service ... that worries me. But Kong sounds interesting.

Tedgal - Morot Gaudry sounds fantastic but I'm afraid it would be out of our price range. Especially as much as we love our wine! Thanks for the suggestion.
