OMG this looks scary. As much as I adore the Fasnacht, but Liestal isn't for me...

The Liestal show is pretty amazing. You REALLY feel the heat from the passing fire and cinders do fly all over the place. Still, nobody gets hurt. We like the spectacle but hate trying to get back to Basel on the overcrowded S-bahns. We tend to take one going the other way (to Sissach, one stop down, usually not so crowded), get off there, and then catch the next one headed to Basel so we're already on board and seated when it stops back at Liestal.

I would panic, I know it. But the video is awesome.

I went to both in 1985 and enjoyed seeing the pictures.
