Morgan or Elizabeth Hotel London

We have narrowed our choices down to these two hotels. Has anyone stayed at either recently? Any comments pro or con?

My daughter and I stayed at the Morgan last October. It is quite convenient, just off Oxford Street, around the corner from the British Museum, in walking distance to Covent Garden and the theaters. The closest tube stop is Tottenham Court.

It is family owned by friendly people, and a full English breakfast is included in the room rate. Our double room was fairly small, as was the bath which had only a shower and not a tub, but it was nicely decorated and quite adequate.

We were on I think the third floor and there are no elevators, so if that is a problem you may want to request a lower floor.

Is the Elizabeth the one on Lancaster Terrace just off Bayswater Rd? If so, I stayed across the street at the Hotel Lancaster. The area is fine..tube stop is right on the corner of Lancaster Terrace and Bayswater. You could walk to Oxford street if you wanted. The bus stop is handy also. I'll stop now until you tell me that this is the right hotel. No point in "plathering" further about it if this isn't the hotel you are interested in.

We stayed at the Morgan last month. The rooms in the annex are larger than the ones in the main building-ask for one of those and ask them to write on your reservation "do not move".
You cannot get a better location than the Morgan, the people that run it are nice and the breakfast is great.

I think the "official" name is the London Elizabeth. I just googled it and there are a bunch of hits and reviews. I glanced at some of the reviews and they were good. The Elizabeth is behind the Hotel Lancaster so if you walk around to the front of the Hotel Lancaster there is a bus stop and also a stop for the Hop On, Hop Off bus. I forget which one..NOT the red one. Also, right across the street from the Hotel Lancaster is a little alley with a mini market, a pub, and two or three restaurants. The tube stop is actually underneath a corner of the Hotel Lancaster, so THAT couldn't be more convenient. A large part of the neighborhood is residential and Hyde Park is right across the street on Bayswater. My brother and I walked early every morning and went down Bayswater, hung a left on Edgeware Rd. and up a couple of blocks to Starbucks. The Elizabeth looks very "british" from the outside and a couple of the reviews mentioned that some of the rooms were fairly small, typically "european". I can't speak for the Morgan, but it sounds like a good location.

I've stayed in both areas - at the London Elizabeth (which I don't recommend) and in the Russell Square area (but not at the Morgan). I prefer the Russell Square area - seemed to be closer to what I wanted to see and I found more restaurants, coffee shops, etc. in that area.

However, the London Elizabeth is right on the bus line and a tube stop as well, so that location is good as well.
