More Effing Snow!

Title says it all really......

Make it stop!

rbnwdlr Feb 10th, 2010 12:10 PM

Minnesota here. Waa! Waa! Waa! It's about time the rest of the world feels our pain! LOL

mnapoli Feb 10th, 2010 12:16 PM

We got 23 inches in western Pennsylvania over the weekend and an additional 8 overnight last night. It's pretty if you don't have to drive in it!

RM67 Feb 10th, 2010 12:19 PM

It's a feeble sprinkling here in the UK in comparison, but we just aren't very good at snow.

My skiddy car, thin raincoat and lack of gloves are fairly typical of how unprepared the general populus is.

(I did look at boots and big shearling coat thingy after the last lot of snow. But then decided to buy a new handbag instead......)

StCirq Feb 10th, 2010 12:21 PM

Wusses. We've got well over 30".

d_claude_bear Feb 10th, 2010 12:28 PM

From southern California: yesterday's rain has stopped, and it is sunny and moderately warm (about 60 degrees F) today. What's the problem?

Pegontheroad Feb 10th, 2010 12:41 PM

I keep saying we had about 2 inches total this year, a far cry from last year's eight feet--EIGHT FEET!

cmcfong Feb 10th, 2010 12:50 PM

We're getting your eight feet, Peg. TAKE IT BACK.

nytraveler Feb 10th, 2010 03:22 PM

Today we have 14 to 17 inches - with whiteout (blizzard) conditions tonight. One of my colleagues called in from NJ - he had more than 2 feet last week and has more than that again today - so far.

So, today they closed the schools so they could plow the streets. School is back on tomorrow - and the subways and buses never stopped running - although the latter a little slower.

grandmere Feb 10th, 2010 03:36 PM

Right with you, mnapoli, and it's still snowing here in Pgh.

carolyn Feb 10th, 2010 03:42 PM

We have a measly 6.5 inches in Louisville, but the temperature is dropping rapidly and more snow is predicted later in the week.

leuk2 Feb 10th, 2010 05:27 PM

We have the winter olympics starting in 2 days and its raining. Warmest January on record.

stokebailey Feb 10th, 2010 06:43 PM

I sympathize, RM67. Things are all messed up.

nona1 Feb 11th, 2010 12:34 AM

8 feet? mouth drops open.

hetismij Feb 11th, 2010 01:04 AM

We had just got rid of last weekends offering when the newest lot arrived.

Since there is no more salt in our town, and very little in the province the roads are not cleared, not that they ever cleared many in our town anyway.

I walked the dogs in a blizzard yesterday afternoon. We were all white by the time we finished, and I was nearly blinded by the snow in my eyes. Horizontal snow. Even worse than vertical snow.
This morning I went our with them again and risked breaking my neck as it is so slippery now.

My poor husband took over 3 hours to get home last night, for a journey that normally takes just over an hour. He went off to work again this morning - it only took him two hours this morning though.

If I wanted to live somewhere that got snow I'd move to Switzerland or Canada, or Wyoming or somewhere. This is horrible - mostly because we aren't used to it I admit.

It is horrible and I hate it. Please make it go away.

phillyboy Feb 11th, 2010 03:53 AM

Here in Philadelphia, we had 29 inches last Friday/Saturday, and another 16 yesterday. (45 inches = 114 cm) They are trying valiantly to clear the roads, and the main highways are in pretty good shape, but the problem on a lot of the secondary roads and side streets is that there is just nowhere to put all the snow.

And there will be no meltdown anytime soon, as high temperatures won't exceed the mid 30's F (2 C) for the next 7 - 10 days.

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 11th, 2010 03:57 AM

This exposure to snow has made most Brits realise why foreigners are such utter rotters. It’s the climate. It drives them mad.

long2travel Feb 12th, 2010 12:54 PM

An utter rotter?

Judyrem Feb 12th, 2010 02:19 PM

:-)

pctraveler Feb 12th, 2010 03:00 PM

I'm in Dallas; 9 inches on the ground -- our biggest snowfall in recorded history. What global warming?
