Any fodorites planning to be in Bellagio 9/16-21, or Rome 9/28-10/1? Seems like fun to meet up after reading other post on the topic.

Venice: arriving Sept. 30, leaving Oct. 3. Would anyone like to meet there and then?

I'll be in other places (Varenna, Bologna with many day trips to other towns, Stresa, Vigevano only the night before flying home) that are not on other people's lists, or at least not at the same time as anyone else.

Maybe we could meet...we have a tour on 9/27 at 1600 (Ancient City), reservations at the Borghese on 9/28 at 1100, and planning on the Vatican on 9/29. Leaving sometime on the 30th to train to Florence.

Any ideas?

Hey Deb, I will be the good looking one in the hat. We hope to hit the San Pietro church on Sunday the 12th--we have contributed to its restoration thru Isabella Dusi. Also, we are staying at Il Giglio hotel in the heart of town and will eat at Grappolo Blu perhaps on Sat. nite.

bmillersc - if you like, we could sit by the Pantheon, or pick a spot (gelateria? pizzeria?) near Piazza Navona at some convenient time. We (DH and I) are not planning any tours, just meandering about Rome and hope to visit the usual tourist stops on a 'whenever' basis. We will be computer-less from Monday AM onward, (unless I find a cyber-cafe
somewhere), and thus will have no way to communicate once I leave home...so perhaps a time/place with apologies up-front if either of us can't make it.
What do you think? btw..we will be at the Nazionale in Rome.
marymac..we overlap in Bellagio and Rome also.

We would be walking from the Piazza Farnese (we are staying at Casa di Santa Brigida) to the Borghese on the morning of the 28th, and could meet you there then for un caffe', or after our tour (which would be over at 1300). Perhaps after our tour we would be ready for a slice of pizza AND some gelato (I have a feeling we'll be eating a lot of that!).

This is our first time in Rome, so we're trying to see some of the "must-sees" without overdoing it. My wife and I both think it would be neat to meet up with somebody.

Vernazza - Oct 4-7
Varenna Oct 7-10

Anyone in those areas are welcome to contact me. Gelato all around!!

bmillersc,
We are arriving on the 28th from the Adriatic coast..not sure if by train or bus. (hoping for bus, but DH would rather train ) ETA is very uncertain...hopefully by the afternoon .How is the 29th for you. We are sure of being 'in town' then.

abqdeb Sep 13th, 2003 06:51 AM

Bob,

We are staying at La Crociona, right outside of town. We haven't planned our daily adventures yet, but are working on a cooking class and wine tours. We will be doing day trips to surrounding hill towns. Who knows, maybe we'll end up at Grappolo Blu! That's one of your faves, isn't it? Any nearby wineries you recommend ( particularly ones that don't require reservations)?
