More 'CENTRAL' location of Hotel in Rome -- A Necessity?

Is it worth a few euros (actually 40 euros a night) to have a hotel near the Navona area vs. a hotel in the Prati area (5 mins walk from the Vatican)

We are staying 3 nights, so that amounts to 120 euros! Is it worth spending some money to be 'nearer' to the sights?

Many thanks to all!

To me -- absolutely!!!!!

It depends on how much you like walking, how you plan to spend your time (how much vatican, how muchcnetral/acnient Rome) - and what 120 euros is worth to you.

For that difference I'd go for central any day.

Yes, it is worth ! At the Navona area you will be at more or less the same distance to all the highlights of Rome, while in Prati you are only near the Vatican. As you only have 3 nights, I think it is worth not to lose so much time in public transport (not very good in Rome) or walking to go from one side of the city to another. Anyway, it all depends in your ability to walk and your willing to do so !!

I too would stay near the P. Navona than near the Vatican for that difference in cost.

It's hard to say without knowing the hotels. Are they comparable in every other respect? What are the actual nightly rates, if one may ask?

If I had only 3 nights in Rome I'd want every minute to count....

Well, Hotel Pomezia in the Navona Area costs 130 euros a night, while in Pensione Paradise in the Prati area costs 90 euros.

Not really breaking the bank prices, but I guess we could spare the additional 40 euro/night.

I guess it depends on what is important to YOU, but especially with that short stay, I would definitely pay the extra to stay near Piazza Navona. Easy to walk to most places, lots of good restaurants, wonderful ambience.

Yes, it's worth it, but also Prati is not that far and you can save the money. I liked staying in Prati. To me the Vatican is further to Piazza Navona than Prati. You walk a few blocks, cross the river, and the piazza is not too far away. I believe we took about 15 minutes, but it depends on how fast or slow you walk.

Hi

Yes I agree with staying as central as possible. The Hotel Pomezia looks very nice. If you want to stay somewhere central, at €95 there is the Hotel Panda - http://www.hotelpanda.it. This place gets good reviews in this forum.

Good luck
