Moonlight in Amalfi

I've read how beautiful the boat ride from Capri to Positano is in the moonlight. When I was on Capri, I didn't see any scheduled boats leaving after 6:00 or so, too early for moonlight. Maybe I needed to look at hiring a private boat. I'll be in the area again next May, but I won't be going to Capri, so I was thinking a boat ride from Amalfi to Positano in the moonlight should be equally memorable; maybe we could have dinner in Amalfi and then take a boat back to Positano. There will be four of us, and we're not really at home on the water, so we would need something of sufficient size that we would feel very safe, but at the same time we're not millionaires. Are there any scheduled boats at the right time for moonlight? If not, how would we go about hiring a boat to meet our needs? Any idea of the cost of such a thing?

Good question! To the top so maybe another Fodorite can answer this one?

Hello Don,

The Alilauro website lists a couple of scheduled services Positano-Amalfi at 22.00 and 00.15.
The latest Amalfi Positano service listed is at 21.30.
HOWEVER, these services may not run as early as May.
www.alilaurogruson.it/orari.htm

There are several companies which run excursions as well as private tours by arrangement:-
www.lucibello.it
www.bludream.it
www.syrene.it/gennaroesalvatore

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve

Hi Steve. On one of your posts you mentioned the Golden Land Tours in Amalfi. I do not seem to be having any luck getting information on their services. Any suggestions?

Hi Steve. I am spending so much time on this part of my trip, that poor Tuscany(the other half of my time) is getting sadly neglected. Well, I have written to hotels, printed up bus and ferry schedules. The hydrofoils are out for me as I am understanding that the schedule is from June 7 through September 23. But from one of the websights, I am understanding a tour from Praiano to be about $24 to Pompeii plus the cost of the entrance. But this is from a hotel websight and I do not know if anyone can sign up and I need to know the information if I use Amalfi as a staring point(especially if we stay in Ravello). So I would appreciate the information and I can fax them. I cannot seem to really give any of the towns except Ravello and Praiano serious consideration as my home base. In six nights, I do not think I will stay in two places. The amount of material I am collecting is enormous! Thanks again for the leaflet info.

Hi Steve. The information is great. I will fax them and wait for an answer. Maybe they have an e-mail and they will send me the information that way. Or maybe they will mail the information. I would be happy either way. Thanks again. Sherry
