Montmartre Hotel

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a reasonably priced hotel in Montmartre. We stayed at Hotel des Arts twice. It was great but we would like something with air conditioning, and in the same area-around les Abesses subway, and near the Coquelicot Cafe-a most wonderful little place .
Love this forum-always get great info from it.

Dear Moise:

It was back in 1996, but I stayed at a hotel in Montmartre: the Hotel Sylvia, 23 rue de la Tour d’Auvergne, 75009 Paris. As I recall, it was a tourist class hotel; nothing fancy but not bad either. The Metro stop is CADET.

Good luck..

Metro Cadet is not in Montmartre...

I don't have a personal recommendation but what I do is use the "search businesses" function on Google maps, entering "hotels" near the address "place des abbesses, paris, france" and then look up reviews and websites for those listed that look like a good fit.

Here are some possibilities:
Timhotel Montmartre
Mercure Paris Montmartre
Hotel Regyn's Montmartre

I've stayed on this hotel in Montmartre:http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...de_France.html
It seems to meet your requirements with the added bonus of a view of the Cathedral.

There aren't very many upscale hotels in Montmartre, as you may know, and I'm using that term just to mean AC. I think the most charming ones don't. Only a couple do, I think. There is the 4* Terrass, of course, and the Relais Montmartre has AC, it says

There is a 3* Mercure Montmartre, also, that I believe has AC, on rue Caulaincourt, but it's pretty blah in the room decor (which you may like -- not "charming"). The Timhotel Montmartre is right on a charming place and is cute on the outside, the room photos I've seen vary and only some have AC (the superior), but I'd consider that one, probably.

I've never heard of that Carlton hotel but it might be a possibility, although maybe not exactly where you want to be, actually (it's right on the main bd de Rochechouart near Anvers metro). I would check to make sure it really has AC, as it's website does not mention it that I can see.

La Terrasse is a very nice property, with and exceptionally helpful staff and, in the warm weather, one of the most romantic roof top restaurants in Paris, with a view across the entire city.

But, I think it has been hit by price inflation lately and it may no longer meet the definition of reasonable.

The timhotel is in a superb location; it was previously called Hotel Paradis. The bottom two floors rented by the hour. The top floor rooms offer a tiny balcony and awesome views of Paris. Grossly overpriced today...but what a history! And no, we didn't stay on the lower floors.

Hi

I haven't stayed here but you could try Hotel Utrillo - http://www.hotel-paris-utrillo.com. Their website doesn't say much about room facilities, particularly airconditioning. Best to email them and ask.
