Well the one sister who owns the apartments at Montepulciano lives there (the apartments are part of the family "estate") and she is more than willing to give advice including restaurants, etc. She also booked a car to take us to the bus station on our last day there, and when the taxi got stranded (she called him on her cell) she got out her car and drove us there herself.
You don't get service like that in a hotel.
The little tourist office on the main square is also a big help, and they booked us on a great "semi-private" winery tour including a private home and small award winning winery for tastings and a tour that is not open to the public.

The mistery apartments are nothing but the APPARTAMENTI AL POGGIOLO.

I've been there and they are great! Within the town walls, with a huge garden (probably the only one in town), beautiful views over the valley and private gated park. Super advised.
