Montecarlo for new years eve
 

Need information on the city, and if the casinos have dress codes and how do I find out about special events for the evening.

What sort of information, where to buy an icecream?

I was in Monte Carlo last February which is surely going to be different than new years eve. However, I can tell you that you need to at least wear a jacket in the big casino there but the others seemed to be more casual. I am not a gambler so I only can give you my opinion as such but I think unless you have major bucks you won't like the big casino--seemed a little boring even. Before I went I searched info on monte carlo but have since deleted all. I did find the monaco tourist site and emailed them regarding some questions. They responded quickly. You will have to do a search for that. Also there are other sites that you can get by searching. Monte Carlo has good food and beautiful architecture. The Palace Hotel has a restaurant on the top floor that has a ceiling that opens to the stars with good food. I think it is the grill. Then on the first floor is Alan Duchases (sp) world famous restaurant (which was closed when I was there.) There are many places to eat. The aquarium is wonderful even if that is not your "thing" as it has species I don't think would be seen elsewhere. If I come across any info I have not deleted I will repost. Have a great trip.

The casino is one of the most elegant in the world - The Salle Garnier is ledgendary for its shows. I am of course referring to the Casino de Monte Carlo.

The restaurant to which a previous posting refers is Alain Duacaisse.

Monaco is rather dull though, good food, good entertainment, but only for a couple of nights at the most. Why go there for New Year's Eve? It is dated, but then again perhaps suited to a certain type of American.
