Montalcino or Pienza

I am visiting both Montalcino & Pienza and will stay 1 night in one of these places. Which has a better selections of restuarants and things to enjoy in the evening hours ?

We spent two nights in Montalcino last October and like you tried to decide between it at Pienza. I absolutely loved Montalcino and the surrounding area. The village is wonderful, small, great restaurants, great wine and very friendly people. We spent 2 1/2 weeks in Italy and Montalcino was one of my very favorite places. Enjoy your trip!

You really can't go wrong, Lorenzi, but Montalcino is a bit larger town so would have more going on in the evening. Be sure to visit the Fortezza for a wine-tasting -- what a setting!

Thanks for your thoughts. Looks like Montalcino. Yes, the Enoteca Fortezza is already on my list to sip the vino & watch the sun go down from there.
Any thoughts on best resturants. It's my birthday the day I am there, so I am looking for extra special. Possibly lunch at Banfi. Have read mixed reviews on Fattoria Barbi. Keep seeing a lot on Fiaschetrria (spelling?).

Montalcino is wonderful - we spent 3 nights there in March - although it was icy cold, we enjoy it! But please make sure that you visit Pienza - we just visited it on our way back to Arezzo, and I loved the small town!
