Mont St. Michel Accomodations
 

Please recommend accomodations on the island of Mont St. Michel. I prefer lodging that is historical, comfortable, and offers a view.

I don't have recommendations but this is the website for the tourism office, and it has hotel listings

I liked Mouton Blanc and have recomended it in this forum before. But there is no view.

Because of the wall around Le Mont, here are not many places with views and those that do have them comand a premium.

If you search this forum, you will find recomendations from several people.

I was at the Mont this past September and did a trip report. Here's an excerpt regarding our hotel:

"We stayed at a place called "Le Vieille Auberge" in Mont St. Michel. It's about half way up the mont next to a cemetary. The walk from the main street takes you under a couple of ancient arches and three sets of stairs. The lobby is unspectacularly updated, but the room itself retained a lot of charm. Small, with a sloped ceiling, divided into three sections, fantastic view! We were very pleased with how clean it was, the bathroom with shower was completely renovated. We ran into a couple from Minnesota who happened to be staying at the same establishment. Their room was $125 Euros, (ours was 85 E) further up the Mont above the cemetary. They couldn't say enough about their room. Having traveled the world over they said it was the best room with view for the price they could recall."

I am starting to plan a trip to Paris and have just started research.

Spent one day (!) in Paris last summer after a longer trip to London.

Need more time, obviously.

I don't recall where we stayed, but it is indeed worth staying the night on the "island" to be there when the tourists [nasty people] leave!

What did you mean - tourists (nasty people)? Aren't we all tourists when touring?

Anyone else?

We have stayed on the Mont twice. First time at Les Terasses--wonderfully quiet, nice room with tall open out windows that you could walk through. Not a sound but the wind and birds singing early the next a.m. Second trip this place was full (5 mos ahead) so we followed RS suggestion of Mouton Blanc. It was a very tiny room and actually shabby. It overlooked the main little street and there was a cabaret nearby below and we heard noise until 4 a.m. Needless to say we got little sleep. However, we did time the trip just right and saw the tides.

Are there any place to stay that face the Mount and are not extremely expensive?
