Money Exchange

Where is the best place to exchange your money when you cross the boarder by auto from Germany to Poland?

Hey,
It might not be what u want, but just a suggestion: On my trips to Eastern Europe Czech Republic and Hungary I did not take any of their currency, but just used my ATM card. That way I felt saved from being ripped off. However, it depends on how much your card issuer / bank charges you for ATM transactions in a foreign country.

Otherwise I would exchange money at a BANK, and I mean BANK within Poland. In a lot of places within Germany it is actually quite hard to exchange money into Eastern European currencies.

Hi,
Was in Poland in May, easy to get money at ATM's in major areas.

In Poland use Kantor (exchange booths) which have almost always better rate then Banks, as well as many are open 24/7. Also check the rates and depending on geographical location this rate may change as much as 10-20%.
As for ATMs those are all over the place esspecially in large cities - make sure you have 4digit pin also many of ATMs are in Polish only. Use of credit cards is also welcome all over - but still many of smaller places/cities - places were you find real deals - is cash only.
Note - Banks will exchange Traveler Checks but Kantors is cash only.
