Going to Paris again especially to take the trip to Giverny. For a nice leisurely visit, getting there as soon as they open, how much time should we alot. Train back to Paris is at one or three. Would 3 hours be enough? Thanks.

Thank you for this! I'm now determined to take the train to visit Giverny next summer when my daughter and I go to Paris.

I have just spent an hour reading your blog; what a talent you have for writing, photos and travel. How fortunate you are to have had such experiences in your short life!
Let me know when you want to add the southwest US to your list of places you have been, I would be proud to show you around New Mexico and SW Colorado :) |
Stunning photos and a great report. I went to Giverny in both May and September. May of course you get the Iris but September was just as pretty in fact the weather was much kinder to us.
I recommend Hotel Baudy for lunch, it is at the other end of the village to Monet's house. Great salads in summer and in cooler months lovely hot food as well. Sure beats all the little overpriced spots closer to Monet's house. Schnauzer |
Thanks for a fabulous report and great pictures.
I am enjoying reading your blog and all the wonderful places you have managed to see in your young life. Keep traveling and never losing your sense of adventure |
Giverny is indeed a popular and also colorful place...very much so as visited in April in our Seine River cruise. Did you walk to the gravesite for Monet? Not far away.

I'm trying to determine whether Giverny (Gardens, Monet's home) is open on Mondays.
Should be a simple question, but some tour books say that it's closed on Mondays (as is Versailles), while some information, such as the Giverny Foundation website linked above, states that it is open daily. Anyone know the current, accurate information, or the most reliable source to determine what's correct? (We'll be in the area in a few weeks and Monday is the only day this could work out for us.) Many thanks for input!! |
The website for the gardens is:
http://giverny.org and it indicates that it is open daily from 9:30 - 6pm. I didn't look but maybe they have an e-mail that you could use to confirm. |
Just chiming in to say our two visits once in April, once in May, were among my favorite travel memories. Worth putting up with crowds--although it was hard to get a picture of the bridge!
It was the first place I had ever seen espaliered fruit trees--didn't know there was such a thing! |
