While a certain amount of crime in the US is perpetrated by immigrants, surprisingly - given economic status - it's not out of proportion with their presence in the population at large.
Seems that the typical destruction of the courthouse lawn by drunken high schoolers or decapitation of the town founder's statue is done by kids born here and with a) lots of time on their hands and b) no effort by parents to instill any respect for authority. (Parents can't teach what they don't know ...)
It is just as conceivable that the kids at the Orsay would be native-born skinheads or other right-wing anti-immigrants as immigrants themselves. But speculation is pointless. Neither is there much value in being able to report after arrests that "I told you so!" They could just as easily turn out to be rowdy American or Brit college students.

A little update on the case. Culprits still not caught.
They staggered in and found themselves in room 22 (not 23 as I said earlier). It is speculated that they did not even know what sort of building they were breaking into until they saw the paintings, according to the visual record. The men peed on the floor and they lit cigarettes. Then they noticed the security camera and left quickly. One of them elbowed the painting.

Indeed, the dispatch appeared an hour ago on various news services. There were 6 guys and a girl, it turns out. One of the men (over age 18) turned himself in Thursday afternoon and said he jabbed the painting, totally drunk. The others have been rounded up for questioning -- the girl was released.
We might have the whole story tomorrow morning.
