Mondays in Spain: is everything closed or just museums?

I'd like to know if you've had experienced getting to a place/museum or any main attraction in Spain and find it closed on Mondays. I heard this is true for museums in Madrid, is it? What about the day trip to Toledo on that day?

Thanks for your help!

Daniele

I didn't experience it because I looked up the opening days ahead of time in a guidebook, as well as info online, so I knew when not to go. Maybe that's something you could consider doing so you can find out and plan your trip. It is true a lot of the major museums are closed on Monday, but not all. In Madrid, I think the Reina Sofia is open Monday, and the Royal Palace is also.

I went to Segovia on the Monday during my stay in Madrid because the main sites there are open daily (like the Alcazar and the cathedral).

Hi Danielef,

Not everything is closed. As Christina mentioned, Reina Sofia is closed on Tuesday, not Monday. Although my notes say the Palace is closed Monday, so maybe it changed since I was there in February.

I went to Toledo on Sunday - the Sinagoga de Transito is closed on Mondays, but everything else is pretty much open, so it depends on what you want to see.

I also went to Segovia on a Monday, because pretty much everything is open there every day.
