Monaco - casino
Can anyone tell me about the casinos in Monaco like the slots and what to wear?
|
The Monte Carlo casino has slots that you can play without paying an entrance fee to the casino. Otherwise, i think its about a 10 euro entrance fee. I did not go in, so not sure of dress code. I think you may only need a jacket in the 'private' back rooms.
|
The casinos are more formal than here. When we were there everyone was very dressed up. Also, we went into the main casino which is a very beautiful building(the name escapes me) and the stakes were very high at all the tables so we went next door where it was more reasonable. They had many slots games as well.

The slot machines are in a separate area and open in the afternoon However the main gaming area is only open at night and a man requires a jacket and a lady appropiate attire.
|
There are actually 2 casinos: the Grand Casino as described above and the Loews (or whomever is running it now) across the plaza which has no entry fee and is very casual.
|
The casino across the plaza as mentioned above used to be known as the "tourist casino" and is, as was mentioned, open to those in much more casual attire. Not as formal as the "Grand" by any means; lots of slot machines the last time I was there.

The Loew's has been known as the Monte-Carlo Grand for a few years now. It is around the corner and down the hill from the Monte-Carlo Casino which is situated on the Place du Casino.
At the main Monte-Carlo Casino, the slots are open during the afternoon, but the big gaming tables for high bids is only open in the evening (believe from 6pm on) and proper attire is required. Check out the Grand (Loew's) which has a much more relaxed atmosphere and dress code, and reasonable stakes at tables. |
This may be old info from 1997, but at that time they were taking your passport to hold before you entered the old casino. Security. We were told to have ours with us if going there. I did not find the place that exciting. Sorta dull, but at least we can say we saw it.
