Modigliani in Italy?
Does anyone know of a Modigliani Museum in Italy like the Picasso in Paris and Toulouse Lautrec in Albi both of which I loved. Or even a gallery in Italy somehere where I could expect to find several Modis? Thanks.

Isn't most of his work in the US and France?

You can enjoy his work on line.

Hmm. I like Modigliani as well, but the largest collections of Modiglianis, by far, is in the US, particularly at the National Gallery of Art in DC.
In Italy, I don't believe they have a special museum for Modigliani-they have had special exhibitions from time to time of his works-there are a few Modiglianis in the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milano, also maybe a couple in Venice at the Peggy Guggenheim (he lived in Venice for a time), but that's all that I know. |
Thanks everyone. We will be travelling to Italy next year so I was hoping to see something then. I guess I will wait till closer to that time and then check out if there are any exhibitions on. We will be in Milan and Venice amongst other places so I will look at those places mentioned above. Thanks again.

Peteralan, While in Museo Thyssen in Madrid a month back, I keenly remember coming across a flier for a large Modigliani exhibition they plan to host for several months, early next year. Just for your information just in case you like Amedeo enough to stop there on the way to Italy. Here is their website: http://www.museothyssen.org. It caught my interest because at the time, I was reading a book on his supposedly (controversy about that) troubled bohemian life of drugs, alcohol, and promiscuity, yet brilliant work.
