Moderately priced restaurants in Burgundy?

We'd like to try to keep to a budget while on our trip to Burgundy. Under 25E for lunch and under 35E for dinner (per person) not including wine :)

What restaurants, winstubs, ferme auberges etc. would you recommend in/around the any of the following areas:

Beaune
Pouilly Montrachet
Mersault
Chateau-en-Auxios
Semur -en Auxios
Abbaye de Fonteney
Ancy-Le-Franc
Noyers sur Serein
Vezelay

And is there one restaurant in Burgundy that shouldn't be missed....our one splurge?

Can't wait to see your suggestions!

We spent 2 weeks in Burgundy & dined at many great restaurants - all above your price range - except this one:

Relais de la Diligence in Meursault. Excellent value. It was the “sleeper” of the group.

Looks like they have seating outside with a beautiful view of the vineyards.

Le Saint Etienne, Vezelay on the main street that leads up to the Basilica. From their webiste it looks like you could find something n your price range, although most are higher. We had wonderful meals there.

Looks like a lovely place. And they even have some vegetarian dishes!! That would be most welcome at the end of our trip :)

In Beaune, look for "tea shops." Also, off the large main parking lot there's a street with a number of inexpensive eateries. If it's still there, try the grill across from the cathedral in Autun--the steaks were great, especially with the roquefort cheese topping.

As many will tell you Ma Cuisine is terrific. Last April a local recommended la Garaudiere. We loved it. The food was great and the country decor was perfect. Would love to know what you think if you try it. There is also a nice little country restaurant just outside of Mercurey, whose name escapes me right now. Price was very reasonable.

glaciermeadows,

I intend to post a trip report or at the very least a review of the accommodations and restaurants. Will not be until September though :)

Ma Cusine seems to be a must, and I kind of discovered La Garaudiere through Chowhound vs. guide books, trip advisor or this forum. So I'm glad to know that you think it's a winner.

Thanks!
