Moderate-Medium priced hotel in Dresden

Hi
We will be in Dresden in about 3 wks and I'm looking for a nice, centrally located hotel, preferably with parking in Dresden. I've seen other postings for Dreseden so I know it is visited by many Fodorites. In Berlin we are staying at the Movenpick Berlin, which usually is a nice chain. I know there is a Kempinski in Dresden but they are too expensive for us. Thanks in advance.

We stayed at one of the Ibis hotels--there are three in a row between the train station and downtown, hence within easy walking distance of either place. It was quite acceptable.

More expensive than the Ibis suggested by Michael, but a very nice option you might want to take a look at is the Radisson SAS Gewandhaus Hotel, which is almost ideally located.

Hi
Thanks for the help. Now to look up my map of Dresden to get an idea of location.

I second hsv's suggestion of the SAS Radisson Gewandhaus. Location is excellent, the hotel very good. Sometimes they have a special offer on their website.

I noticed that the Ibis hotels have parts of their facades under scaffolding and netting. Make sure you don't book a room with netting in front of your window!

btw, did you see my response to your other post?

Ingo,

I apologize for highjacking this site, but I am trying to locate living relatives of Emmy Dörfel--actually her sister, but Emmy can be found on a web site. Any idea of how to approach the problem? Thanks.
