Mittenwald - luggage storage?
 

I'm taking the train from Munich - Innsbruck and thinking of stopping by Mittenwald for a few hours but my problem is our luggages - 2 heavy suitcases. I've read conflicting answers about whether or not there are storage lockers in the train station. Can anyone confirm if there are indeed lockers where we can drop off our suitcases for a few hours? Or has anyone tried leaving their luggage at the tourism office?

I checked this about a year ago, and there were lockers at the station.

Note that there are no longer serviced counters at the Mittenwald station -- you buy train tickets using the ticket machines.

But there were still lockers sitting out on the platforms.

Swandav2000: No I'm not sure, now that I've had another look. None of the write-ups below that describe what has happened to the re-built station mention luggage storage, but this website indicates that there is - www.firmendb.de/bahnhoefe/3041.php

So - who to believe?

The MIttenwald train station has been undergoing renovations since a fire gutted it a few years ago. The plans and budgets kept changing, if was a bit of a political football for a long time, but late last year most of it reopened.

I see no mention of a luggage service anywhere, but since everything is not finished yet, and since there is now a combination of "Reisebüro" (travel office) and a post office branch right inside the new station building - surely somebody at that travel office would have the answer?

I suggest you call 011-43-8823-4040 - allowing for the time difference of course. Make it clear that you're not asking if they offer the service in their shop, but ask if there is luggage storage ("Gepäckaufbewahrung") anywhere in the train station.
