Missing Toronto Woman May Be in France

An acquaintance of mine has been missing for 7 months. Her name is Shannon Mary Sullivan. I met Shan through a book club that she started here in Toronto. Her family have reason to believe that she has had a psychological or paranoid break of some kind, and they think that she may be in France. Her brother and cousin were in France looking for her, after receiving some promising leads, however she still hasn't been found. She has been declared a missing person in France, and the police here in Canada and in France are involved. I have been following this for several months now, ever since she disappeared. Shannon is well-educated (PhD), worked for a pharmaceutical company (gave no notice when she left), and is well-travelled.

There has been a fair amount of media attention, both in Canada and in France, and I'm attaching the link to one of the more recent articles about Shan's disappearance. If anyone has any information, her family would appreciate hearing from you.

There is also a Facebook page that her brother has set up - https://www.facebook.com/comehomeshannon/

Oh no, I hope that her family is able to locate her and that she is safe.

Good in tagging the countries. Adding the cities I noticed in the news stories where Shannon was cited as being:

Amerstam
Annecy, France
Valleiry, France
Marseille

I'm wondering if a twitter hashtag might be a good idea.Ideally, it would be great to find French volunteers to post this in French on their FB pages.

Is it still believed Shannon might be on a camino? Everyone thinks of St. James but there are other holy sites that the walkers will add on--Lourdes France and especially Fatima Portugal (it was 100 year anniversary).

I hope they find her soon.

Thanks for your responses. I have to believe that at some point, someone will see her and help her family find her.

Good news! After many months, Shannon was located in the south of France last weekend, and she and her brother flew back to Canada today. Whether we'll ever know what happened, everyone is relieved that she is safe.

I saw the wonderful news this morning!

I saw Susan's post and shared it with friends who live in Provence/The Lueron region and they in turn shared the facebook page and story with their friends who did likewise.

Glad this story ends well. This is what happens when we all act in the greater good and with the best of intentions in our hearts. A smile on my face today that there is indeed positive forces about.

I'm so glad this had a (mostly) positive outcome. Best wishes for your friend's continued progress.

Reading through some of the accounts on Facebook and elsewhere, it was crucial that strangers became invested in Shannon's fate. Friends and family's persistence created a "buy-in" by both local and international police, and it is wonderful to see how everyone's generosity of spirit created this outcome.
