Missing my old friends . . .
Dr. Betty, Neal, Cindy, Ilisa, Nancy. All were very helpful and helped make this site great. All are apparent casualties of the big changes in this site in the last few months. Who have I forgotten?

Make some new friends.
Get over it already. Look up their addresses and write little warm-fuzzy emails to them if you like.

Just the travel facts, ma'am - that's all I ever wanted from this place, not a cliquish chatroom.
Amen to that! This forum is finally a place for travel talk instead of social-issue-of-the-day chatter, and since most of those named above spent most of their time engaged in social debates, they seem to have nothing to talk about now. Good riddance! About time some new travelers and new blood is infused here.
hmm, last I checked, they were all about travel.

plus, the chattiness is what makes this place nice.

bedside manner, all that...
When I miss my old friends, I get some of the old postcards that I got on past trips and send little notes. They get a kick out of it and I use something with more imagination that notebook paper:)
At this time of year it is normal to think of old friends.I think that it is a good idea to get off the computer and to sit down and make a phone call, let them know you are thinking of them..say Happy Holidays.
It might seem insensitive but I don't missed the chatter about the husband, bra sizes, BS credentials, etc. I do miss Neal, though. He was cool. One we could lose is Beth A. and her job search. Talk about self-absorbed
Just ignore that, Beth. You are a treasure.
Beth-you are a treat~
We could all do with some manners and less voicing of opinions that are insulting and unneccesary.
self absorbed - that's me - "Bounty, the quicker picker upper"!

hee hee

Beth

Dr. Betty was here in the past day or two.

Best wishes,

Rex

I ADORE Dr. Betty, turban & all.
What about Tony Hughes nee Stellarossa. I've heard about him, read old posts of his, but don't recall seeing any new posts. Is he still with us here as an anonymous presence or am I missing something (no doubt, entirely possible). Seemed interesting & controversial. Cool.
Same with Neal Sanders.
Neal posted recently on the US forum about a weekend in NYC at Christmastime. I too miss the "old friends:" Donna, Joan, Al Clem.
I miss Stellarossa. He may have been kinda obnoxious at times, but he added some excitement to the forum and some very informative stuff along the way.
What about that woman who had fabulous food suggestions...she wrote for a magazine or something and knew her stuff about the foods of the world...forget her name though..anyone remember????
And, where is Paulo?
It's nice to be missed. "My girl" and I have been busy scraping the mud of Vietnam off our boots lately, catching up on sleep, and wondering where all the Americans went when we were overseas in November. Ran into only five. Lots of French and Australians. Some Danes, British, and Germans. Plus 80 million Vietnamese, all smiling, waving, curious, and helpful.
Missthemtoo: Her name is Wendy.
Oh yeah, I remember Wendy. She had great food info. Anyone know where she's gotten to?
