Miramare Positano - Room 201 or 210?
 

We already booked our honeymoon hotel at Poseidon, but Miramare's quote came in at 100 euros less and I can't pass up the good deal (especially since Fodorites give Miramare good reviews as well).<BR><BR>For those of you who have been and are familiar with rooms 201 and 210 at Miramare, what were your impressions of the rooms? Am trying to decide which one to book. Thanks for your help!!!

I'd tell the hotel owners that you're spending your honeymoon with them and you'll trust them to choose the better room for the occasion. The kindness of strangers can work ...<BR><BR>

Hi Kristen,<BR><BR>We stayed at the Miramare last September for a week and we stayed in Room 210. We absolutely loved it and think that is probably the best room there. What was really nice about it is that it is at the end of the building and its private terrace juts out in such a way that you have incredible views not only straight ahead of the sea as the other rooms do, but because of how it is situated, you also have spectacular sweeping views of Positano to the left. Also, this terrace is more private than the others because it is not in a row with the rest. Any ways, we can't say enough good things about the Miramare in every respect. If you have any recommendations about any "must dos" or "must eats" in the area, I'd love to hear them. A friend from work is going to Positano for her honeymoon in 2 weeks, so the information would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Hi Kristen:<BR><BR>One small detail I forgot to mention about Room 210, the shower has a floor to ceiling glass wall/window that overlooks the sea, positioned in such a way that no one can see you. You will love it!<BR><BR>Regarding things to do, we rented kayaks right from the beach. We also enjoyed using a book called "Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast" by Julian Tippett which had some incredible hikes all along the Amalfi coast - including several starting right from Positano. <BR><BR>Regarding restaurants, we'd recommend Lo Guarracino (for amazing pizza and views), for a less touristy dinner I'd recommend Da Vincenzo. Of course, the Sirenuse and the San Pietro both have amazing food/views that are worth a splurge (for food I preferred San Pietro). <BR><BR>I hope this info helps you out. Thanks again, Linda... I really can't wait for our trip. I'll check into that book you suggested - we love hiking/kayaking (and didn't know you could rent kayaks in Positano!). I'll email you if I think of anything else.

You've probably already read my review of Room 210 on the Rants and Raves. I, also, wavered betweem 210 and 201 before I got there but went with 210 b/c the hotel said it was the best. Once we got there, I looked at 201 just to make sure. And I can tell you that 210 is, unequivocally, the best room. You'll love it. I am so jealous you're going. Also, we had that same book. It's hard to get in the US -- we got it on amazon.uk. Beware: some of the hikes are not that great. I do not suggest the hike from Positano to Montepertuso (sp?). You're essentially walking through people's garbage up a steep hill. Not scenic. Not nice. The walk from Amalfi to Atrani and then up to Ravello is quite beautiful, although strenuous. Have fun!!

I highly recommend a restaurant "Donna Rosa" that is a lovely, warm and romantic with fantastic food. It situated up on the Monterperuso. You may take a bus that go to Monterperuso and the restaurant is just at the last stop of the bus route.<BR><BR>Enjoy!
