mini trip report dubrovnik

Hi board! We have arrived in Dub. and it is hot and beautiful!! Budapest first was awesome, the Sky Europe flight connecting the two cities was flawless, great people, great plane, and on time. Arriving at the Dub. airport at dusk, with an Atlas bus waiting to bus us to town for $6US each. Driving the coastal road at dusk was so magical. The views are fantastic. We love town in the evenings. The lights are so beautiful, daytime is really hot and lots of cruise ship people. Atlas travel office not friendly at all, the TI inside the <pile gate also unfriendly. You need to know just what you want to do before you get here and ask very specific questions.

The Benussi home where we are staying is fantastic. They are very friendy, told us the story of their life during the war years out under the pergola full of grapevines, on the terrace. Huge pots of hydrangias, very excellent air conditioning, satellite TV, small kitchen with refrig, and spotless bathroom, good hot water and shower. They have two twin beds pushed together with a small gap. Itæs located only a 2 minute walk up a small stone pathway from the Hilton. We just love the terrace and small sea view from here and the location close to the pile gate. 2 minutes walk from the pile gate.

Yesterday we also went to the island of Lokrum. We love it there. Very clean, fresh water, large flat rocks to lay on and full of pine trees. Cool shade and small restaurant, hiking trails. Great place to spend several hours, $6US round trip.

Today we go to Lopud island and tomorrow Atlas tour to Montenegro, the blue tour. Will report more later.

This internet station outside of pile gate, dubrovnik internet center is cheap and excellent and very helpful for information. much, much better than the TI.

Bye for now......

I've heard it's very hot in Croatia today. How lucky you are to be at the beach, swimming and relaxing.
Please tag your posts under "Croatia" board, or they'll go unnoticed.
Have fun!

Images2 : Thanks for the memories ! Very thoughtful of you to post while on holiday. Your experiences remind me so much of mine, especially the house/sobe you're in. Is it off the little lane a few steps down (lower) than the Pile gate ? Does it have a green door to enter, and is there a lady there called Jelena ? If so, it's the same place that I stayed in 2004 and it is magical.

images2... great to hear from you.. i'm so glad you are enjoying your time there! You are bringing vivid memories back to me.. the internet cafe (cheap and friendly), Atlas travel (not friendly or helpful... though we found that when we killed them with kindness.. and we were in there twice a day.. they really warmed up to us!)... and yes! that first drive on the bus to Dubrovnik.. magical! We kayaked around the island of Lokrum.. and noticed people topless sunbathing on the flat rocks.. and believe it or not, some of the kayakers were snapping pics of them! lol. we couldnt believe it.
well.. enjoy your time (i'm so wanting to go back!) and keep us updated!
p.s. can you post on the Croatia board? I almost missed this.
