Mimi, Stu Dudley and other Provencephiles

I am making a list of places to dine in Provence (this will be our 2nd trip). We will be staying in Arles and in Gordes.
We plan on at least one meal at L'Atelier in Arles having been wowed at La Chassagnette on our last trip. Bartavalle(sp?) in Goult looks interesting and sounds like a must do. We will be staying at Ferme de la Huppe and Le Calendal. Any other suggestions? I am taking notes as time goes by but know many of the places you have recommended over the years have been wonderful.

Since you're already dining at L'atelier (and prepared to be wowed again), I can suggest the other one star Michelin (as of this year)

Le Cilantro (chef Jerome Laurent) up near the Coliseum.
31 rue Porte-de-Laure, Arles
tel: 04 90 18 25 05
email: [email protected]

I suggest checking the menu before reserving... I've had different experiences there from really good to just okay.

Patricia -

Did Jean-Luc get a star already ? If so, that's great news and much deserved. Conincidentally, we were having lunch there once when a few tables over was a critic from Michelin. It was kind of cool to see how they do things. When he pulled out his official Michelin ID card after paying for his meal, you would have thought royalty had shown up !

Kevin....

Yes, he got his star ! The Cilantro also got a star (a bit early, in my opinion.. the restaurant needs more "seasoning".

(He had gotten one at La Chassagnette, but then he left, so they don't have one any longer.)

Hope to see you soon !

Pam - eating at L'atelier!!! Please give us a full report so we can live vicariously.
For me it was the most memorable dining experience ever. Have a great time.

We like Bernard Mathys in le Chene just outside of Apt.

I continue to jot these down. Merci to one and all.

mimi~We will be there the last week in September. We arrive in Arles on 9/24.
I know you are planning a September trip. When?

cigalechanta May 14th, 2007 09:03 AM

we'll be leaving on the tenth, an over night in Avallon and a week in Provence, a night in Albi and then head up to friends near Poitiers.

I forgot to add another restaurant in Arles when I responded. Had dinner there two weeks ago and really enjoyed it...

Le Galoubet
18 rue du docteur Fanton
tel 04 90 93 18 11

it's just off the "forum" - the busy little square loaded with tourist restaurants and cafés.

good food, quiet with a nice terrace. very reasonably priced.
