what should not be missed (besides the Duomo) in Milano? We're only there for 8 hours! Thanks so much.

When are you going to Milan? Order tickets in advance to The Last Supper. Easy to get there on the tram and is definitely a must see.

The Galleria... it's right next to the Duomo. Then just walk the streets in the fashion district.

It can be hard to get tickets to the Last Supper, so apply NOW.

Through the Galleria to the side opposite the Duomo and then across the square is the La Scala opera house. An entry ticket to the opera house museum (which has some interesting displays, even for a non-fan of opera) also provides entry to one of the upper balconies and a view of the beautiful interior of what is probably the most famous opera house in the world.

I have to add one more thing: Cemetiro monumentale. It is near the train station, has huge statues , even a replica of the Last supper

You can visit also Castello Sforzesco, in a big park. There is there a Pieta of Michelangelo (his last Pieta).

ezflier, at the Duomo, definitely climb up to the roof. I have to say I am kind of over my interest in climbing every dome of every tower or church, but the Milan Duomo is different; I really felt I was on a roof, and the view, if clear, is great.

In the Galleria, look for the mosaic of a bull on the floor. Sounds odd, but if you put your heel on the bull's testicles and spin around, you will either have good luck or return to Italy; can't remember which, but a win win situation (except for the bull, I suppose...)

The Brea neighborhood (check spelling, only been to Milan once so going from memory) is not far from the Duomo - La Scala - Galleria area, and has some good places to eat and wander around.

I spent two nights in Milan and liked it so much more than I anticipated.

After the Duomo & the Galleria, Via Dante connects the Duomo (sort of) to the Castello, and there's loads of shopping & restaurants along this very cosmo pedestrian through-way. But for my money, the area between Via Monte Napoleone and Via Della Spiga is not to be missed - another of the mostly pedestrian zones with the most amazing high-end stores... as you walk towards the Duomo from the Giardinni Publicci (city park). Have fun in Milano!
