Milano Linate to Milano Centrale Question

I am arriving Milano Linate at 10:30 am and need to catch a train from Milano Centrale to Bologna. The trains run at 11:30 (Never make it), 12:15, 12:35 (slow train), and 1:15. My flight's on-time performance is 85% with the longest delay in the past few months being 40 minutes.

I am a seasoned TrenItalia customer and have been to Milano Centrale (from Malpensa). I know Linate is rather close to Centrale, but never having been through that airport, I'm wondering if I'm giving myself enough time if I book the 12:15 train. I'm guessing that if I miss a shuttle (which takes about 20 minutes, I guess), I can always take a taxi to be on time.

Any thoughts on this, please?

Grazie mille,

Cris

You should be able to make the 12.15 certainly if you have only carry on luggage and are coming from an airport within the Schengen area.

If you have luggage and are coming from outside the Schengen area there is generally a bus which takes you from the plane to the terminal. Stay near to the door so you can get quickly to passport control. Generally you do not have to wait all that long for your bags as Linate is much quicker than Malpensa on bag delivery.

If you find you are cutting it fine be careful with the shuttle buses. They always say that they are leaving withing 5 minutes but often the 5 minutes stretches out to 10 or 15 as they try to leave with the bus as full as possible.

I second the idea of considering taking a taxi to Rogoredo. It's a very short ride, with less chance of getting stuck in traffic.

Thanks, Sandra and Neckervd. I love the idea of trying Italo as I have not been on them yet. I have a group of 3 following me through there three days later, and that will be great for them as they've never been to Milan and traveled by train.

Grazie mille.
