Milano Expo ?
Anybody been to the Milano Expo yet? I have one free day in Milan. Was planning a day trip to Pavia but now thinking the Expo might be really interesting. My Italian is sub-marginal but I assume a world's fair is going to have everything in multiple languages including English. Just wondering if anyone has been and what their thoughts on it were. Thanks

I am sorry but we are not going over (from Verona and for only one day) until next month. I am sure there must be reviews by this point but haven't bothered to look for them yet.

We have numerous friends and relatives (all Italian) who have gone, and they were all enthusiastic. They said many of the pavilions had long lines, and that you really need more than one day to see some of the more popular pavilions. One family skipped the Italian pavilion, because they had only one day and the lines were too long. They visited a lot of pavilions of the smaller countries and enjoyed the day.
We weren't planning to go at all, but the reports we've heard have caused us to consider a trip in October. The greatest praise I've heard is for the architecture. |
Hey if you are interested in food cultures and new technologies that makes food more sustainable, I suggest you should check it out as it is an opportunity that you don't want to miss. You can really learn a lot about the traditions, cultures and varieties of food through the different pavilions. If you are passionate about food, you can see Milan from the foodie's perspective from this year's expo. If you are afraid of the queues, you can try Bonappetour at Milan which also allows you to sample local foods:)
