Milan-Verona-Venice-Milan: car?
Planning to travel Northern Italy. Plans are:
Verona - 3 days Venice - 3 days Milan - 3 days (2 days travel for airport to & from) Not doing any wineries this trip so wasn't planning on renting a car. Can I do these three cities w/o car and just use the train for transport? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks & Happy New Year!! Lisa S |
Yes! I am not a huge advocate of the train, so when I say yes, I mean yes. A car would just be a pain in those cities. Milan has a great underground system, Verona is small and cars aren't allowed in Venice.

Absolutely! A car would be a liability in those cities, and the trains are frequent and efficient. Vicenza is on the Verona-Venice line, and would be worth a few hours as well.

When are you going? It will be a shame to miss Lago Como, and you really could borrow time from both Verona and Milan. I would do:
Venice--3 Verona--2 Lago Como--2[Varenna] Milan--2 All very doable by train. |
Planning on early-mid September travel. Thanks for all the suggestions, I will look into those side trip ideas.
Have a happy! Lisa S |
