From Milano the train to Wengen will take between 4 and 5 hours with between 3 and 5 changes - depending on what time you get from the airport to the train station in Milan.

Not sure why you didn't land at Zurich instead - a lot easier - unless Milan has some incredibly cheap fare.

www.sbb.ch for tickets.

Or www.trenitalia.com Milan-Spiez then sbb.ch (or buy atthe station in Spiez) forSpiez-Wengen.

It's at little over 3 hours by train from the Zurich Airport with 3-4 changes, although with much more frequent departures. Wengen just isn't that accessible.

jimoestmann, you can check train timetables at either:

What are you Swiss travel plans - if doing much at all check into the Swiss Pass and or Half-Fare Card or Swiss Transfer Ticket + half-off Half-Fare Card- check these sites for a lot of info on Swiss trains and passes: www.budgeteuropetravel.com; www.ricksteves.com and www.swisstravelsystem.com.

Milan to Spiez via Brig - change in Spiez for Interlaken-Ost - and then transfer to the BOB mountain train to Lauterbrunnen and there change to a train to Wengen. All changes are very simple - off one train and onto a waiting train.

If you land at Milan Malpensa:
take a bus (if there is one at your arrival time) or a taxi to Gallarate and go on by train, first to Domodossola, then to Brig, then to Spiez, then to Interlaken, then to Lauterbrunnen and finally to Wengen.
Many connections, but a lot of train changes.

Direct trains from Gallarate to Spiez:
Gallarate dp 7.57
Direct trains from Gallarate to Brig:
Gallarate dp 7.57, 19.57
Directg trains from Domodossola to Spiez:
Domo dp 8.48, 12.48, 14.48, 19.48

take a bus (if there is one at your arrival time) or a taxi to Gallarate and go on by train>

or of course if no bus and not wanting to pay for a taxi there is always the train to Milan Centrale for those trains to Domodossola and Spiez (may have to change in Brig).

Changes of train at Spiez, Interlaken-Ost and Lauterbrunnen are really simple with the connecting trains usually waiting at the last two on an opposite platform.
