Milan to Malpensa ... train or cab
Hello,
I have received answers on the board regarding taking the train from city center to Malpensa with the goal of arriving about 8 am for a 10:40 flight. I'm comfortable with the plan but my husband thinks a cab would be more convenient. Realizing it's a haul out to the airport and considering the traffic on a Monday morning, what time should we leave the hotel? And, can someone suggest a driver? (I'm still pushing for the train) Many thanks, jane |
Hi C,
The train runs from the Cardona station. The bus leaves from Milan Central station. A cab will take about 1 hr. See http://www.airwise.com/airports/euro.../MXPtran1.html ((I)) |
Hi Jane - For the Shuttle bus timetable from Milano Centrale see:
http://www.malpensashuttle.it/e-default.htm Deps every 20 mins; scheduled journey time: 50 mins; Fare: € 6.00 Plan to take the 07.00 bus. The going rate for a taxi is approx. € 70-90 Hope this helps ... Steve |

I've tried all the options but the shuttle bus from Malpensa to Centrale is the way to go ... unless you're headed for the Cardona area. Shuttles are nice, clean and frequent.

Repete has it backwards, but his point is valid. If your hotel is within walking distance of Cadorna, take the train. If your hotel is within walking distance of Centrale, take the shuttle bus. If you're going to have to start out from your hotel in a cab, then you might as well go all the way to Malpensa by cab.
But if budget is a consideration, I prefer the train because it isn't impacted by traffic jams, etc. If Cadorna is too far from your hotel to walk, you can take the metro. There's a stop in front of the station. |
