Milan recommendations for 1 day

My husband is going to Milan this month on business and will have an afternoon free. He has been there before on business, but never had time to explore before. He asked if I could get some rec's from this board, since you all gave us such great advice for our recent trip to Italy.

He rather enjoys walking around lively areas, sitting in piazzas & people-watching, and he would love to spend his free Sunday afternoon in this regard if there is an area like this in Milan. He was not so interested in seeing the Duomo. He loves the pizza in Italy and would love to get a recommendation for a good pizza restaurant and/or a fun wine bar.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated by him!

The facade of the duomo is currently under repair and under tarps, so it's a good thing that he hasn't interest in it. Unfortunately, Milan on Sunday is shut up tight. I guess I'd wander around and wing it.

Anyone have any pizzeria or wine-bar recommendations?

Have him check out the Navigli area of Milan.

thanks, eliz. I'll mention that area to him. Are any of these piazza's good for hanging out -- Piazza fontana, Piazza Meda, Piazzetta Belgioioso?

Sorry, I don't know those piazzas by name. I'm one of those who navigates by sight & consequently can't give decent directions to others without pulling out a map!
