Milan Moderately Priced Hotels
 

Can anyone recommend a moderately-priced (between $150-$200) hotel in MIlan for a two-night stay in late September. Since it's not much time in MIlan, I'd like it to be centrally located.

I've looked a little online and found the following place:

We enjoyed staying at the Hotel Ariosta. We chose it because it was a short walk from there to see The Last Supper at Santa Maria Della Grazie. By the way, if you are interested in The Last Supper, a reservation is required.

We enoyed our stay at Antica Locanda Leonardo. A very quiet location, personal service and a terrific breakfast only a block from "The Last Supper."

cdispoto, if you don't mind spending time and money on the Metro or trams, the Romana looks nice but a bit far from the main sights.

We've stayed multiple times at the Star near the Duomo. It has a great location, but its decor is a little less appealing than the Romana and its rates are at the outer limits of your budget.

On the map, it appears the Hotel Romana is less than two miles from the Duomo and La Scala. My wife and I love to walk so we have no problem covering that kind of distance, although I will look into these other options.

I like the location of your hotel. You are certainly right that you can walk to the Duomo from there, as well as the Pinocoteca Ambrosiana art museum, which I highly recommend to you as one of the best small museums not only in Milan but in Italy.

You should always read up-to-date reviews on TripAdvisor and Booking.com if you haven't already done so for the Romana Residence.

If you end up booking it, and if you are arriving to Milan landing at Malpensa airport, you will have a slightly cheaper taxi ride to your hotel if from the airport you take the Malpensa Xpress train to Cadorna Station rather than taking the Trenitalia train or a bus to Stazione Centrale in Milan city. While it is true you can also take trams or the subway to your hotel once you arrive at the train stations in central Milan, you might find using public transportation while you are dragging your luggage a bit of a nuisance. (Without your luggage, it is fun to ride the trams.)
