Milan - Malpensa Hotel for early Int. departure?

Hello,

we are traveling back to the US from Malpensa on Friday, 24 July with a 6:55am flight. I am looking for a hotel easiest to get to Malpensa for such an early international departure.

The Sheraton actually connected to the terminal would be perfect, & has good reviews, would be easiest, but showing $220 (after tax) for a one night's stay that we will be spending 6-7 hours total (checking in late, coming back from Nice, Fr)

We want to get the airport not later than 5am (earlier?), & all other local hotels would need a shuttle of some sort. I am not sure how reliable they are at 4:45am in the morning. Can anyone recommend another good situation to try, or should we bite the bullet and have our most expensive night be for a few hours rest close to the airport...would hate that, but peace of mind might be worth it if no other good options for such an early morning start.

thanks,
atlchx

Haven't stayed in the Malpensa Sheraton, but we have stayed at the Sheraton at CDG/Paris before a flight and it was a very good experience. Quiet, nice rooms, excellent food. IMO, it's worth a little more to end the trip without creating stress after a nice vacation. The convenience factor can't be beat for early morning flights.

Hotel First---hard to beat.

To me there is no point to staying at the airport unless you stay at the Sheraton. All the other hotels involve relying on cab rides at that hour to reliably get you there that early -- and those pre-dawn pre-arranged cab rides will add to the cost of your hotel room. Bring half a bottle of wine and some cheese from France, relax.

Compare the prices at Sheraton to the First before you decide. The First has a shuttle. And a charming restaurant on the corner.

Another vote for the First hotel.

I've stayed at the First and had no problem with an early morning trip to the airport, but thought I would share this with you.

On Hotwire, the Sheraton and CDG is listed as "AT Charles de Gaulle airport" rather than "near" the airport. When I saw the "At" I figured it had to be the Sheraton and it was. If it were me I would try Hotwire for your date and see what pops up.

How late are you checking in? Restaurants don't serve all night.

A 4.45am shuttle to the airport is not something I would count on without a near written guarantee, but anyway, I'd rather just walk.

4:45 am? Are counters at Malpensa even open that early?

Another Hotel First.

Thanks to all, just booked First Hotel (71 Euro) with peace of mind, saving over $100 than the Sheraton.

I booked directly with the hotel web-site...I noticed on some of the other sites (expedia, travelocity, hotels.com, etc...) mention of a "15.99 euro adult transfer fee", others noted a 3-4+ euro airport shuttle fee?

It's fine considering the great rate, but should I expect an additional fee for the shuttle?

thanks again!

Recent reviews on tripadvisor all mention a 3 euro fee for the hotel shuttle to the airport

We have not stayed in a couple of years now but I do not recall an extra shuttle fee.
If you email the hotel and ask I am sure they will let you know. You might want to give the driver a little tip especially if no charge. Enjoy your trip!!!
