Milan Malpensa bus shuttle from centrale train station?

Six of us (3 couples) are staying within a block or two of the Milan Central Train station for the last night of our 2 week trip to Italy in early October (planning a duomo visit and Last supper viewing for our last afternoon/evening). We need to get to Malpensa airport for a 9:35am flight, back to the US. Is the shuttle bus from the train station the best choice? What time should we plan to take the bus? We priced a private driver and were quoted 170 euros for the 6 of us, which seemed pretty high. Any advice from those who have previously used the shuttle bus would be appreciated. Grazie!

When we were there about 5 or 6 years ago, we took the Malpensa Express. I believe we took a taxi from our hotel to the Cardona station. I remember it was very easy and the train took us right to our terminal. It has early departures also, which is what you'll need. Of course, the shuttles leave early also, but they take longer, especially depending on traffic. For a 9:45 departure, I'd try to be there by 7 or 7:30. Malpensa is just not an easy airport!

Hope this helps ...

Thanks for the good advice. Can you purchase the shuttle bus tickets the day before? Just looking to save as much time as possible for our early am departure.

Yes.

You can buy tix before but the bus driver sells tix so it's really not necessary to purchase in advance.

By the way, I believe the bus fare is slightly higher than what is posted above. More like 7 euros per person.

We took the bus from Milan train station to Malpensa a few weeks ago. Worked out great.

Takes about 1 hour. Since you are heading back to the States leave three hours minimum in the airport to get through security. I would take the 5:40 bus. The lines are huge! We paid 7 euros each.

BTW, the taxis have the cost of ride to Malpensa posted. It is flat rate from Duomo 75 euros.
